Honoring Service, Providing Support: A Guide for Mental Health Professionals' Working with Veterans and their Families

This course is designed for mental health professionals, equipping them with an essential knowledge base for effectively working with military veterans and their families. Participants will explore the unique cultural norms, subcultures and values of this population, gaining insight into the stigmas and barriers to therapy as well as understanding common stressors they face, including deployment and reintegration. This course covers prevalent mental health concerns of veterans such as trauma exposure, moral injury, betrayal trauma and suicide and will delve into the impact of their experiences on their families. Clinical considerations for treating this population will be addressed. 

Healing the Helpers: Clinical Essentials for Working with Military and First Responders

This course is designed for mental health professionals choosing to expand their clinical knowledge base to include working with veterans, first responders and their families. This course will equip clinicians with essential clinical knowledge and skills for effectively working with these populations through the exploration of the unique culture and subcultural norms and values, while gaining insight into the stigmas and barriers to therapy. There will be a deepening of the understanding of common stressors, including deployment and reintegration, chronic and acute trauma exposure, work/life balance and public perception. This course also covers prevalent mental health concerns of veterans and first responders such as moral injury, betrayal trauma and suicide and will delve into the impact of their experiences on their families with clinical considerations for care. 

  Military Sexual    Trauma Support    Group

This is a safe space where female survivors of military sexual trauma can find comfort and solidarity, connect with others with shared experiences and provide mutual support. This is a closed group, space is limited to 8 participants. Moderated by a female veteran and licensed mental health clinician. This will be a virtual group. Meets the 2nd Friday of every month, beginning December 13th 5:30-7pm $40 Register here

Veteran Self Care Group

Join other military service members (active, discharged or retired) in practicing resilience and self care. Using strategies such as goal setting, breathing exercises, mindfulness and more, with the goal of cultivating a greater sense of clarity, calmness, and insight, promoting well-being and reducing stress. Group will be moving to virtual after January 1, 2025. More to come!

First Responder Self Care Group

Come together with fellow first responders to explore many of the beneficial aspects of self care. Through practices like goal setting, problem solving, mindful exercises, and more, self care aims to foster clarity, reduce stress, promote emotional regulation and an overall greater sense of wellbeing. Group will be moving to virtual after January 1, 2025. More to come!
